This game mode is similar to the daily knockouts included in FUT 17 and 18.
You need to win a certain number of matches in the new tournament-style mode to qualify for the weekend league. There are some caveats with this new system.
You cannot lose a certain number of qualifying matches. This almost means that every week, your chances of qualifying for the weekend league are limited. Matching will be based on skill. This probably means that the opponents you meet will be based on your performance in the divisional competitors.
FUT Champions rewards will provide designated player rewards every week. This means that in addition to your gift pack rewards, you will receive a specific player as a reward for participating in the weekend league every week.
However, the scores of the players you will receive as rewards will depend on your weekend league rankings. For example, suppose that a player like Alphonso Davies is a designated reward for a particular weekend. If you get the gold medal 3, you will get the level 82 version of Alfonso Davis. However, if you get an Elite 3 score, you will get an Alphonso Davies version of 85.
