Once again I try my hand at creating a Liverpool team from the past and present as another year of FIFA comes to an end. And once again I run into the age old problem of not having enough defenders to go around. I call this the Alan Hansen problem. We could really use one of our greatest defenders to be added to the game in the form of an icon card, so I don't have to waste so many 'current' spots on my defense.
It's no fun unless I limit myself to three current players in every past and present team I make. Chemistry is too easy and you might as well play pro clubs without this restriction. So in front of Jerzy Duddek I have Virgil Van Dijk's team of the year card. Accompanied by 88 rated Emre Can and Javier Mascherano. Yes, my three at the back is two midfielders without pace and Big Virgil. He's got a lot of lifting to do.
The team is incredibly attacking, but it gets better as you go forward. Xabi Alonso finally has a decent map. He's joined at the base of the midfield by the legendary Steven Gerrard, who unfortunately is terrible in the game. I wouldn't call either of them a number 6, but that's what we have to work with in the absence of a proper center back. The so-called wingbacks are Sadio Mane and Raheem Sterling - I told you it's attacking - and up top we've got a combination of Darwin Nunez and Kenny Dalglish. Xherdan Shaqiri's new Futties card will help out as a 10. When I unlock him, Ryan Kent will replace the traitorous Sterling.

It's a good team, with 30 out of 33 players having good chemistry and a lot of fun to play with. I'm more reliant on Van Dijk than I'd like to be, and while the third spot is still up for grabs, Gomez's Futties card is too expensive for me. I'd like to take Trent Alexander-Arnold in a four at the back, but we don't have any past left backs in the game, unless I want to use Alberto Moreno's 77-rated common gold card. Which I don't.
